Savannah Guthrie became emotional while discussing her mother's disappearance and the impact it continues to have on her daily life.
The Today anchor fought back tears during the June 8 episode of Today with Jenna and Sheinelle as she reflected on returning to work amid the ongoing investigation into her mother Nancy Guthrie's case.

"It's always with me," Savannah said. "I cry every morning on the way to work, and I cry every morning on the way home. And I'm grateful to have good friends and to be able to come to such a beautiful and joyous and supportive place."
"Like so many people out there, you can hold all of these things together," she added.

"I try to tell my kids that, too. We can hold our sadness and we can hold our joy. And if you don't believe it, just watch me. I'm gonna show you."
Nancy was reported missing in February after authorities said she was abducted from her home in Tucson, Arizona.
Although the case remains open, Savannah returned to Studio 1A on April 6, describing work as a "little respite" from the difficult circumstances surrounding her family.

During the emotional conversation, she thanked co-host Jenna Bush Hager for helping her through the ordeal.
"First of all, I can't really even look at you every day without crying," Savannah told Jenna. "You are my best friend. You know, it's really hard to come back. I've been trying so hard to hold it together, and I promise I will."
"When I see you in the morning, I know that you see me, no matter what is going on," she continued. "And sometimes that's almost too much because I feel like to do the job I gotta keep it together, pull it together."
Despite the challenges, Savannah said she is glad to be back at work.

"But I'm happy to be back," she explained. "It's like the two hours of my day that—it's not that I'm not thinking about it, because I am, but it's something to do and it brings me a lot of joy to be with everybody. But, no, it's not easy."
She also addressed those who may wonder how she continues working through such a difficult time.
"I know maybe people wonder, 'Whoa, what's going on? How's she able to do that job? Is she not thinking about it? Did she forget?'" she said. "No, never."
Savannah made a direct appeal for help, "We still need everybody's prayers. I wish someone would call and say what they know and tell the truth."
