Welker asked Trump "what changed" after he had repeatedly insisted on "no new wars" and made the promise a key part of his campaign message.
Trump replied: "Look, I didn't guarantee no war. Why would I have built the strongest military in the world?"

He went on to argue that he rebuilt the military after inheriting what he described as a "terrible military."
Trump also said he did not want to use the military but claimed he was doing Welker and the public "a huge favor."
The exchange quickly spread across X, where users shared clips of Trump's remarks alongside a Community Note linking to a compilation video of him repeatedly promising "no new wars" during the 2024 campaign.
