Nearly eight years after Kim Kardashian was tied up and robbed at gunpoint inside her luxury Paris hotel room, a French court has handed down guilty verdicts in one of the most shocking celebrity crimes of the decade.
A total of 10 people — nine men and one woman, most of them senior citizens — stood trial in connection with the 2016 heist that saw around $10 million in jewelry stolen from the reality TV mogul.

On Friday, eight were found guilty. Two walked free. The group, with an average age of 70, faced serious charges including armed robbery, kidnapping, and criminal association.
Prosecutors had pushed for sentences of up to 10 years, but most of the convicted received suspended sentences. The alleged mastermind, 69-year-old Aomar Ait Khedache — nicknamed "Old Omar" — admitted his involvement.

He addressed the court before the ruling, saying: "I can't find the words to say how sorry I am. I offer a thousand apologies." Khedache is reportedly nearly mute and partially deaf due to ongoing health issues.
Yunice Abbas, who previously released a book titled "I Kidnapped Kim Kardashian", also confessed to partial involvement. "Once again, I have nothing but regrets to offer you; I'm sorry for what I did," he said.

Two defendants — Florus Héroui, 52, and Gary Madar, 34 — were acquitted after prosecutors failed to prove they leaked Kardashian's Paris whereabouts to the gang. All eight others had denied the charges.
Kardashian, who gave testimony during the trial, said she feared for her life the night masked men stormed her suite at Hôtel de Pourtalès. "I am obviously emotional about it – this experience changed my life, my family's life," she told the court. "… I forgive you. But it doesn't change the emotion, the feelings and the trauma and the way my life has changed."
She also referenced her legal aspirations, adding: "Back home in the States I work in the justice system and I want so badly to be a lawyer and I fight for people to seek justice." The defendants now have 10 days to file an appeal.
