Adele has once again ignited speculation about her marital status during her Las Vegas residency. The 35-year-old 'Rolling In The Deep' sensation playfully referred to herself as a "wife" while discussing sports agent Rich Paul's passion for American football, contrasting it with her own lack of interest in the game.
Addressing the audience at her 'Weekends with Adele' concert at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace over the weekend, she quipped, "I'm not the greatest wife when it comes to football." This wasn't the first time Adele had made such a reference. Just a few days earlier, the Grammy-winning artist had affectionately called Rich her "husband."
A telling moment occurred during one of her interactions with fans at a Las Vegas show on September 16. In this segment of the gig, Adele strolled among the audience, responding to their questions. A TikTok video captured a female admirer proposing marriage to the singer. Adele's response was filled with humor and warmth, as she replied, "You can't marry me, I'm straight, my love. And my husband's here tonight. He's here."
The persistent fan pressed on, saying, "Can you try?" to which Adele playfully retorted, "Oh no, I don't want to try. I'm with Rich. You're crazy, leave me alone." Before her relationship with Rich Paul, the 'Hello' singer had been previously married to Simon Konecki, the father of her son, Angelo, from 2018 until 2021.
Adele and Rich, aged 41, found love in each other's arms two years ago, initially crossing paths on the dance floor at a mutual friend's birthday bash. Their romance became public knowledge during the summer of 2021 when they were photographed together at a basketball game. Surprisingly, Adele had kept the relationship under wraps for as long as possible, not even disclosing the news to her closest friends.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, she shared her initial discretion, saying, "I didn't really tell many of my friends at the beginning because I wanted to keep it to myself … None of them believed it [when the news broke]."
Later, in a 2021 interview on CBS, Adele gushed about Rich, emphasizing his humor and intelligence, saying, "He's just hilarious. Oh, he's so funny, he's hilarious, yeah. And very smart. You know, he's very, very smart. It's quite incredible watching him do what he does."
The British songstress also hinted at the possibility of a second marriage while speaking to Elle magazine about her relationship, expressing her profound happiness, stating, "I'm just in loooove! I'm happy as I'll ever be. I might as well be married."
