Oprah Winfrey is cautious about considering Ozempic. During her knee surgery at the age of 69, news about the "wonder drug," officially known as "semaglutide" and "tirzepatide," licensed for managing blood sugar levels in individuals with type 2 diabetes but with the side effect of weight loss, came to her attention.
Oprah decided that if she were to embark on a weight loss journey, she would prefer to pursue it through traditional means, such as diet and exercise. Participating in her 'Oprah Daily The Life You Want Class: The State of Weight' panel, she expressed her perspective, saying: "Shouldn't we all just be more accepting of whatever body you choose to be in?
"That should be your choice. Even when I first started hearing about the weight loss drugs, at the same time I was going through knee surgery, and I felt, 'I've got to do this on my own.' Because if I take the drug, that's the easy way out."
The former talk show host emphasized that diversity prevails when it comes to body size, clarifying that no single body shape is "superior" to another.

She explained: "It's how our bodies regulate weight, and each of us is different, each of us is unique, not one is superior to another. We're just different, and addressing these differences and acknowledging the heterogeneity within the population is the way we will truly combat this condition."
After successfully completing her knee surgery towards the end of last year, Oprah embarked on a hiking journey, which allowed her to gain a newfound appreciation for her body.
She shared: "As I was rehabilitating, I started hiking. Every day, I tried to hike more and do more. "My appreciation for every organ and every limb has expanded exponentially. So, you mentioning that really brought that home to me."
