DISGRACED ex-Health Secretary Matt Hancock is 'cutting his political losses' in a bid to 'focus on his media career,' says an expert.
The Suffolk MP is the latest to join the star-studded line-up for this year's bombshell series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!
He'll join as a latecomer alongside comedian Seann Walsh in the upcoming series which starts on ITV on Sunday, November 6 at 9pm.
Amid claims that other MPs are rightly "shocked" by the reality TV revelation, one expert claims Matt is "cutting his political losses".
Speaking exclusively to OMG-News.com, PR expert Jo O’Reilly reveals that Hanock could be lining himself up for a future "media career".
"He's hoping that, with a career in cabinet firmly off the table under Rishi Sunak’s new government, he might as well cut his political losses and focus on his media career," she told OMG!
"For ITV it's an incredible booking, and has driven a huge amount of interest in the show, within an hour of the announcement Google searches for 'I'm a celeb' shot up by 900%!"
Jo, a digital PR manager at Salience Search Marketing, says Matt could win the support of voters – just not in the way he had hoped.
She added: "While his party and his constituents aren't happy, what the British public think remains to be seen.
"There is already talk that he could break the bushtucker trial record as Brits take out their post-pandemic frustrations on the former health secretary.
"There does however already seem to be some indication that this may work in his favour and soften the public view towards him.
"LiveScore Bet initially had him at 20/1 to win the show, and that has already dropped to 18/1 – could this be a sign that a comeback is on the cards in the Jungle?"
Hancock was forced to resign after he was exposed for breaking his own lockdown rules when he had an affair in his office.
Following the news of his new telly appearance, he’s had the Tory whip removed for abandoning the Commons and his Suffolk constituents.
