Ellen DeGeneres has broken her social media silence after announcing a tragic family loss. The TV presenter shared a pre-recorded clip on her Instagram.
Last week she announced the loss of a cherished family member. In an emotional post, she revealed they had to say goodbye to Augie, her rescue dog of 12 years.

Taking to her account on Monday, she penned: "Thank you for all of your kind messages about Augie. We filmed this last month and planned to post it today.
"I don't care what Portia says, please don't call me the Deal Queen. We love you, Augie."

Announcing the news last week, she wrote: "We had to say goodbye to Augie yesterday. We rescued him 12 years ago and he was so grateful. He gave us so much love. He will be missed. There will never be another like him," Ellen wrote, alongside photos and memories of Augie.
Fans responded, offering sympathy and support in the comments. Many shared their own experiences of losing pets. Ellen has two other dogs named Wolf and Kid, as well as three cats, according to Good Housekeeping.

She's also rescued a pitbull named Tatona and adopted a poodle puppy named Mrs. Wallace Browning. DeGeneres is known for her love of animals and has spoken publicly about her dogs and the importance of responsible pet ownership.

Ellen opened up about her love for dogs back in 2017, telling Good Housekeeping: "They offer unconditional love in ways humans can't. "Plus, they don't talk back. Unless you have one of those dogs who says, 'I ruv you,' in which case, please videotape it and send it to my show."
