At a heated faceoff at the University of Mississippi this week, a Black pro-Palestine protester found herself in the crosshairs of white counter-protesters' racist taunts.
With insults likening her to the chart-topping artist Lizzo and even resorting to despicable comparisons to monkeys, the confrontation unfolded on Thursday as both pro-Palestine and pro-Israel factions clashed on campus grounds. Amidst the fervent exchanges, a group of predominantly white men targeted a lone Black female protester, hurling insults about her weight while invoking Lizzo's name in a derogatory manner, alongside other explicit slurs.

In a particularly repugnant display, one of the aggressors was captured on video mimicking a monkey, further intensifying the racial hostility directed at the protester.
Unsurprisingly, the abhorrent behavior drew swift condemnation, with many condemning the individuals' actions as thinly veiled bigotry exploiting the guise of protests. Videos capturing the incident depict a disturbing pattern of antagonism and racial animosity.
Adding fuel to the fire, U.S. Congressman Mike Collins of Georgia took to social media to commend the actions of the individuals involved, praising them for "taking care of business" in the altercation.
In response, the University of Mississippi issued a statement denouncing the offensive conduct witnessed during the demonstration, asserting that any actions violating university policies would face appropriate consequences.
