A POLICE officer is in hospital after being attacked by a machete-wielding man during an ongoing incident in east London this morning.
The Metropolitan Police officer was slashed at around midday today (April 10) in the Forest Gate area after being called to a “mental health crisis”.
Officers are reportedly still on scene attempting to engage with the suspect in the incident that was called in at around 11.50am.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “We were called to reports of a man armed with a machete suffering a mental health crisis at an address in Skelton Road, E7.
“Officers attended – one officer received a slash injury to his arm and has been taken to hospital for treatment. His condition is not life threatening.
“Officers remain on scene and are attempting to engage with the man.
“The incident remains ongoing at this time.”
