Kerry Katona admits binging on booze sends her anxiety 'through the roof'

TELLY star Kerry Katona admits that binging on booze sends her anxiety "though the roof" and brings on depression.

The former face of Iceland, 42, who has previously battled with substance abuse, says she now tries to avoid drinking to avoid complications.

"I'm not a big drinker, but when I do drink on special occasions, it does heighten my anxiety," she said in her new column for new! magazine.

She added: "I went to Thailand with the kids three years ago and I was drinking non-stop for a week. My anxiety was through the roof.

"Alcohol is a depressant and because I am so prone to anxiety and depression, I can't do it. And I'd definitely never touch drugs again. I can't even imagine what I'd feel like."

It comes after she told the harrowing story of her late ex-husband George Kay reportedly planning to 'inject their daughter with heroin before taking his own life'.

Kerry admits she made the right decision to take out a restraining order against George, who later died in from an overdoes at the age of 39 in 2019.

She says she was 'terrified' of what he would do to her and her family, including their daughter Dylan-Jorge, now eight.

"We were on FaceTime and DJ wouldn’t speak to him, she was only three at the time, and you know what kids are like," she said.

"He was threatening us both and then he said to me, ‘How’s your mum, Kerry? Is she alright?’ before winking and ending the call.

"It really scared me. Before that, he had threatened to rape my mum and slash her up in front of me. So I didn’t know what he was going to do next. I was terrified he was going to hurt her or DJ."
