A POPULAR art and science museum in Bristol city centre has been evacuated after a major fire broke out on the rooftop this afternoon.
Large plumes of black smoke can be seen all over the city following the blaze at We The Curious which broke out just after 2pm today (April 9).
Forty firefighters are on scene, with fire crews initially receiving an emergency call at 2.05pm.

A spokesperson for the Avon Fire and Rescue Service said: “We received a call from We The Curious in central Bristol to reports of a fire on or in the roof space.
“We deployed seven fire engines and a number of specialist resources – and 40 firefighters.
Our venue has been evacuated following a fire alarm, caused by a fire on our roof. Avon Fire and Rescue Service and the police are currently on site, all staff and visitors are accounted for.

“Crews were on the scene within three minutes and the fire was under control by around 3.10pm.”
A spokesperson for We The Curious said: “Our venue has been evacuated following a fire alarm, caused by a fire on our roof.
“Avon Fire and Rescue Service and the police are currently on site, all staff and visitors are accounted for.”

Neighbouring attraction, Bristol Aquarium, said: "Our thoughts are with We The Curious today who have done a tremendous job evacuating after a fire incident.
"For Bristol Aquarium visitors, access is now restricted outside of our building for today to protect the area. Tickets purchased online are valid for 6 months."
