A YOUNG teenage girl has been killed in a horror crash which saw her Fiat 500 collide with a tractor on the A6055 in North Yorkshire.
The 18-year-old died at the scene on Friday (April 1) following the collision at Little Holtby, near the entrance to Holtby Hall, at around 3.30pm.
The youngster was heading south in her grey Fiat 500 car when she collided with a green tractor and trailer that was heading north on the A-road.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses and information following a fatal collision in the Bedale area.
“The 18-year-old woman driving the Fiat sadly died at the scene despite the best efforts of paramedics to save her.
“Her family are receiving support from the police while the investigation continues.
“The driver of the tractor has been left badly shaken by the incident.”
The Major Collision Investigation Team were examining the scene and the vehicles late into the evening. The road reopened at around 11.30pm.
Officers are appealing for witnesses to the collision and motorists with dash-cams who were in the area at the time, to come forward as soon as possible.
They also want to hear from people with any other information that could assist the investigation as they work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision.
