A&E is bringing back Alaska State Troopers for a ninth season after a decade off the air.
The reality show originally aired on National Geographic and follows troopers patrolling hundreds of miles in Fairbanks and the Mat-Su Valley.

The officers serve more than 230 remote villages, only reachable by boat or plane.

The series first ran from 2009 to 2015 before the Alaska Department of Public Safety ended production.
A spokesperson emailed employees in 2014, writing, "DPS has decided to end the production after this season, after five years of filming with (production company) PSG Films."
They added, "This decision was not reflective of PSG Films or the quality of their product. It was just time to focus on the job of providing public safety without any added outside distractions."

The state did not receive money for allowing cameras to film the troopers, though the series was supported by state subsidies.
The new season of Alaska State Troopers is set to premiere on A&E on January 7.
